Have you heard how much those New Yorkers are complaining about the heat lately? It's like they're surprised...Can you believe how hot it is? Yes, it's mid July and we're surrounded by steel and asphalt.Summer does strange things to people- recently I was at a pool party with a group of friends whos conversations sounded like tanning bed commercials. I was the pale one of the bunch and when someone pointed that out I wanted to say something clever like 'We've just made different life choices. I chose to be pale now and look twenty when I'm thirty, and you chose to be tan now and look forty when your thirty.' I thought it would have been a little harsh...Although, this link I found stated that people who use tanning beds are 74 percent more likely to develop malignant melanoma. Scary right? You see those sexy, perfectly seasoned, meaty abs on some buff Guido and think 'I wonder if he'll make it to fifty?' I hear someone complaining about how expensive it is to tan all the time and remind them how expensive chemo will be later. Do people think at all? I guess not...
